Please read the following before filing a complaint:

The Mission of the North Dakota State Board of Dental Examiners is to protect the dental health of the citizens of North Dakota by regulating the practice of dentistry and dental hygiene through the enforcement of laws, rules and policies. The board requires competency and ethical behavior in all areas of the practice of dentistry.

The Boards has the duty to determine qualifications necessary to grant license and registration to dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants and regulate the standard of conduct for the profession.  The Board also reviews complaints against licensees and takes disciplinary action against those licensees who have acted in violation of the Dental Practice Act or Administrative Rules.

The Board cannot represent citizens who seek to recover fees paid or remedies for injuries.  In addition, the Board cannot give legal advice to individuals about their rights or represent them in any action. A legal action to recover money damages from a practitioner is separate from a Board proceeding and you may consult a private attorney about your legal rights and remedies.

After the Board receives your complaint, a representative of the Board will contact you and the party that the complaint is against to obtain his/her response.  When the investigation is complete or information collected, you will receive written notice regarding any conclusion or decision reached by the Board.

If the Board determines that your complaint is not within the jurisdiction of the Board, or determines that no law or administrative rule has been broken, the complaint may be forwarded to the Peer Review Committee of the North Dakota Dental Association for further review.  Peer review serves the public and profession by providing an alternate means of achieving resolution of disputes between patients and dentists.

You can initiate a complaint by filling out the Public Inquiry and Complaint Registration Form and sending it addressed to:
