Clinical Examinations
Dentist: Must successfully complete a board-approved national examination. Accepted regional exams: The NDSBDE accepts WREB, CRDTS and also CITA, and NERB. SRTA will also be accepted if the candidate has also successfully passed the periodontal portion of another accepted clinical exam.
Hygienist: Must successfully complete a board-approved national examination. The North Dakota State Board accepts all clinical regional or state clinical examinations successfully taken BEFORE September 17, 2009. Clinical examinations taken after September 17, 2009 must be CITA, CRDTS or WREB.

Minot, NDJurisprudence exams are given at each Board meeting. Board meetings are typically held in January, April, June, and September.
Dental applicants are eligible to sit for the jurisprudence exam once the application and fees have been received by the Board. Jurisprudence exams are given on the date the Board meets. An informal interview follows the exam. The time will be set by the executive director and you will be notified in writing. All dental applicants will appear before the Board for jurisprudence exam and interview before being licensed.
Hygienists who are new graduates may take the jurisprudence exam at their school and are exempt from the interview. Hygienists who apply by credential review must appear before the board for the jurisprudence exam and informal interview on the date the board meets. The applicant is eligible to sit for the jurisprudence exam once the application and fees have been received by the Board. The time will be set by the executive director and you will be notified in writing.
Registered dental assistants (RDAs) or Qualified dental assistants (QDAs) may take the jurisprudence exam as open book. The exam and law & rules book will be mailed to you upon receipt of your application or you may contact the Board office to have it mailed to you.
