Inactive status provide the opportunity for licensees to remain informed regarding dental practice in North Dakota by receiving the same mailings from and maintaining contact with the Board of Dental Examiners while not practicing within the state. The Board of Dental Examiners is required to insure that all licensees who desire reinstatement from inactive status have maintained their skills and competence during their absence from active practice in the state. This is accomplished by requiring those seeking to reinstate licensure to verify certain facts related to their professional activities during absence from the state. Selecting an inactive status is not intended to offer an avenue to circumvent fees, continuing education, or maintaining levels of competence as are required of actively licensed individuals. Steps required for reinstatement of licensure are designed to safeguard the public in a manner similar to those required for actively licensed individuals
