Qualified Dental Assistant - Limited Radiology Registrant

Duties  

The duties of a QDA-LRR are set forth in NDAC 20-03-01-01(2). In summary, the duties are identical to those of an unregistered dental assistant, except a QDA-LRR may also take radiographs under general supervision. (NOTE: A QDA-LRR carries out far fewer duties than a traditional QDA).

Registration and Requirements

The criteria for becoming a QDA-LRR may be found at NDAC 20-03-01-05(3). In summary, they indicate that Board may grant registration as a QDA-LRR to an applicant who submits a completed application, the required fee, a current CPR certifcation, and one of the following:

  1. Proof they completed, within two years of applying, either: the Radiation Health & Safety (RHS) exam administered by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB)DAPREP’s North Dakota Radiation Health and Safety Course; Bismarck State College's QDA-LRR program, or another course approved by the Board, or

  2. Proof they completed one of the above exams or programs more than two years before applying, and also submits a letter from a dentist confirming the assistant has successfully taken radiographs within five years of application.

QDA-LRR RENEWAL: A QDA-LRR must renew their registration by December 31st of every even-numbered year. When they do so, they must meet the continuing education requirements set forth in NDAC 20-03-01-06(4). Registration renewal is completed online. Make sure the Board has your correct email address to receive notification. 

The Jurisprudence Exam is not required for this level of registration.
