  • Professional Health Program: Fee and Effective Date

    3/17/2026

One of the most positive and impactful upcoming rule changes taking effect on April 1st is one that will allow dentists who are actively licensed in North Dakota to have access to the Professional Health Program.  The PHP is designed for dentists who may not be able to safely practice due to a mental, physical, or emotional condition, or due to alcohol or substance use. Beginning April 1st, dentists may voluntarily and confidentially engage with the PHP or may be ordered into the Program by the Board. For more information about the PHP, see  Home | North Dakota Professional Health Program.

Each individual dentist is responsible for paying for the services they receive in the PHP.

Importantly, however, this new rule includes the assessment of the following fees that will be used to offset operational and administrative costs the PHP incurs in expanding their offerings to dentists. One hundred percent of these fees will be directed from the Board to the PHP.

    1. Each dentist will be assessed a $75.00 fee in April 2026. An email will be sent to each of you soon with instructoins for online payment of this fee. Please watch for that email from the Board.

    2. Dentists will be assessed a $75.00 fee each time they renew their license (the next renewal will be in the Fall of 2027),

    3. Those applying for a dentist license will be assessed a $75.00 fee at the time of application.
