The Board is composed of nine members; six practicing dentists, one practicing dental hygienist , one practicing registered dental assistant and one consumer member. Members are appointed by the Governor for five year terms. A member may be appointed to a second five year term. Board Members are volunteers who contribute their particular expertise to carry out the Board's mission of protecting dental health of the public and regulating the profession of dentistry, dental hygiene and dental assisting through the enforcement of laws, administrative rules and policies.
The Board holds quarterly meetings in addition to committee meetings, public rulemaking hearings and emergency or special meetings. The North Dakota Board of Dental Examiners is fully supported by the fees collected for licensure and license renewal fees and does not receive money from the State’s general fund.
